ADDENDUM: On September 19, 2025, the Minister of Municipal Affairs, Mrs. Geneviève Guilbault, announced her intention to postpone, for a period of at least one year, the obligation to comply with the Residential Swimming Pool Safety Regulation for owners of pools installed before July 22, 2010.
This postponement is intended to give more time to owners who are having difficulty bringing their facilities up to standard and to allow the government, in collaboration with the municipal community, to identify solutions to facilitate the application of the Regulation.

Since 2010, the Residential Swimming Pool Safety Regulation adopted by the provincial government has established standards to ensure the safety of swimming pools with a depth of more than 60 centimeters of water and spas that can hold more than 2,000 liters of water. It is the responsibility of the municipality to enforce this regulation. Please consult the summary document outlining the standards of the regulations (Available in French only) for municipal residents.
Owners of facilities that predate the adoption of the provincial regulations and who were granted an extension have until September 30, 2025, to comply.
To guide residents in their projects, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing provides various self-assessment forms to ensure compliance of the installations in question:
